The art of vine grafting. Behind the scenes look into our new Pinot Noir block at our Carneros estate.
Vine grafting is an ancient technique that joins a desirable scion (the shoot with fruit-bearing buds) to a rootstock (the root system) of a different vine, allowing them to grow as a single plant. This technique is mainly used for their resistance to pests and diseases, which the Dijon and Pommard Pinot Noir clones are grafted into. Qué viva healthy Pinot Noir vines for decades to come. Salud!
